Scott Russi, MD, is a ’84 graduate of the Air Force Academy and ’88 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Russi initially trained as an Internal Medicine physician, completing his training in ’91 at Wilfor Hall Medical Center. He attained board certification the same year. After practicing as a Internist for two years, Dr. Russi entered general surgery training and completed his residence at Keesler Medical Center, Keesler AFB in ’98. He attained General Surgery Board certification in 1999 and has since maintained board certification. Dr. Russi continued to serve in the USAF until 2013, eventually reaching the rank of Colonel. During Colonel Russi’s time on active duty he served as a Squadron Commander, Chief of Staff and General Surgery Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General. Colonel Russi saw combat as a surgeon over five deployments, four as combat surgeon and one as hospital commander.
Since retiring from the Air Force in 2013 Dr. Russi has worked as Trauma Medical Director at Peace Health RiverBend, helping to establish the first American College of Surgeons accredited Level II trauma center in Oregon. He has also worked for the VA Health Care Clinic in Eugene and Peace Harbor Hospital in Florence.
Dr. Russi joined Summit Surgical Group in March 2020 as an Acute Care Surgeon. As an Acute Care Surgeon, Dr. Russi provides emergency and trauma surgery coverage for the McKenzie Willamette Medical Center, performing emergency and acute care thoracic, vascular and general surgery procedures. Dr. Russi is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, Member of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Physicians. He maintains his board certification in General Surgery and is recertififying in Internal Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Russi has an interest in Age Management Medicine and is a member of the Age Management Medicine Group.
